Induction Loops – The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) is now in full force. It obliges service providers such as housing associations and councils to make available facilities which ensure access to disabled customers. This includes the deaf and partially hearing community who are by far the largest group of disabled people in the UK.
Reasonable effort should be taken to accommodate the needs of the hearing impaired. If there are areas within your premises where background noise could disadvantage the hard of hearing, e.g. meeting rooms, communal areas, and TV rooms – Induction Loop systems should be considered.
